As the guest ensemble of the 2014 Women Composers Festival of Hartford, the Sylvanus Ensemble will take the stage on March 8 at the Charter Oak Cultural Center, presenting music for strings, oboe/English horn and piano: Andrea Clearfield‘s 3 Songs for oboe and double bass, Ruth Crawford-Seeger’s Diaphonic Suite No. 4Hilary Tann‘s The Walls of Morlais Castle, and works by the winners of the 2014 Festival score calls.

The Sylvanus Ensemble will be the guest ensemble for the 2014 Women Composers Festival of Hartford, along with Oboe Duo Agosto and guest composer, Andrea Clearfield. The festival will run from March 6 to March 9, at the Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford.

The festival has also announced its 2014 International Composition Competition and Score Calls to all female composers, where Humbert Lucarelli, hailed by The New York Times as “America’s leading oboe recitalist”, will be the guest adjudicator.

The Sylvanus Ensemble is coming to New York City! On Friday, October 21 at 8pm, we are going to perform at the Brazilian Endowment for the Arts.  The concert will feature new pieces by composer Phil Salathé, along with music from Brazil, Taiwan and America.
